My Draft

In the draft I thought I used enough facts to show my audience (which is the football followers) the importance of concussions in football.  I also made it an argument, showing the public how nothing will change unless we actually change.  I need to work on my annottated bibs more but the information in all of the bibliographies is solid.  This paper was a very stressful thing to do but I did it and I am confident that it will get me a good grade.

This is how an argumental video is done.

This video is nearly perfect.

I like how the music changes when he wants something to stand out, and how he uses meaningful words to make his argument more valid.  Red is the color he chooses to pop out at you.  He also uses facts which is a must in an argumental video.  Everything in this video is very good and I hope to make mine similar.

Unethical usage of the internet

Honesty, I unethically use things from the internet without properly giving the owner the correct credit.  What do I do, well I download music off of websites for free, although it is illegal.  Copyright laws are made to keep people from taking work from another and changing it up or not giving the proper credit.  Copyright laws should crack down if they actually want this issue to stop…

What age is too young to play?

What age is too young for children to play football?  With the players evolving and getting stronger, faster and overall better at football tackles are getting even harder.  With this being said it’s not only changing in the higher levels in football but in the young stage as well. 10 year olds didn’t used to hit the way they are hitting now a days, which means concussions are becoming a problem at that level too.  That is way too young for a concussion and can hurt these kids in the long run way more than it is hurting NFL retirees.  If the helmet technology doesn’t step it’s game up football for younger ages may have to be bumped back a few years for the childs safety.  ONLY TIME WILL TELL!!

Concussions to the Max

Concussions in football are way more common than  they ever have been before.  With this being said so is the brain damage of retired players. Retired players are now suffering memory loss and other post concussion symptoms making it harder for them to do everyday things because they forget what they were doing mid way thru doing it.  This is not okay, and witth this being said science is now pllaying a huge role in football to try and help players and provide them with the best and most technological helmets that can reduce these concussions.  NFL is on the rise but with all of the lawsuits on them could bring the NFL down in a hurry……

Head Injuries in Football

http://topics.nytimes.com/top/reference/timestopics/subjects/f/football/head_injuries/index.html

Head injuries, especially in American Football are drawing more and more concern every year.  These injuries and their lawsuits are becoming a common hearing in the Congressional hearings in the United States.

The violent shaking of the brain is what a concussion is, and what it does is cause tremendous loss in memory and makes it difficult to learn certain things, especially short term learning.  “Neurologists say once a person suffers a concussion, he is as much as four times more likely to sustain a second one.  Moreover, after several concussions, it takes less of a blow cause the injury and requires more time to recover.”

Concussions in the N.F.L. are not a stranger to the players, with more than 60 percent of the players in the league suffering at least one concussion in their career and ¼ of the players has had 3 or even more.  These players who have had concussions before are now hurting more than they thought they would in the long run.  Players who had them are now having memory loss, speech impediments and 20 percent are saying they have depression. The most dramatic result in these concussions is a study that was constructed in 2009.  In this study there was information found that players who have had concussions in the past are way more prone to Alzheimer’s disease or similar memory-related diseases, actually a rate of 19 times the normal rate for men ages through 49 are more prone to the diseases because of the concussions.

There has been a hearing concerning these concussions in the past.  Many doctors that went against the N.F.L. in the hearing showed a lot of evidence concerning concussions and the long term effects.  This hearing was eventually dropped but things in the N.F.L. have changed even though the hearing was dropped.

Since then if a player has concussion like symptoms in a game he is not allowed to go back in the game or practice.  Now when a player sustains a concussion he is not allowed to play again until he passes all of his tests and is 100 percent back to their normal state.

Summary

This article show’s how important concussions actually can be, not only in the short term but more importantly in the long run.  People are living lives after the N.F.L. not as happy as everyone may think because of concussions and the long term affects it is bringing them.  Concussions are a serious injury and needs to be understood by everyone who risks playing this sport. Something needs to be done concerning concussions whether it is helmet technology, N.F.L. rules or etc. and the NFL knows this as well, as they are trying new rules and helmets each year to help the players not get a concussion.
